In this session presenters will share how Tri-County Technical College hopped the boundaries from Academic Affairs to Student Affairs by using the WIDS model to support Student Affairs staff in making the shift from delivering services to engaging students in learning outside the classroom. Participants will reconsider the uses of WIDS at their own institutions.

This session unveils time-tested strategies to successfully identify, develop and implement well designed curriculum.  Discover adaptive techniques to support faculty as they develop learner-centered learning opportunities.  You will leave with approaches to engage faculty and leadership in planning, development and implementation of curriculum.

3a.  AQIP & WIDS: Using Dynamic Data for Assessment & Accreditation Management

Strand:  Accreditation and Curriculum, Innovative ways to present curriculum data in systems portfolio

Audience: Deans, instructional designers, program chairs, assessment coordinators, instructors.

This presentation explores how WIDS can be used to develop outcome-based strategies for achieving your institutional accreditation standards using the AQIP model. WIDS can help manage institutional assessment and accreditation processes and create detailed analytical reports. At the end of this presentation you will assess one of these strategies to explore its feasibility for use at your institution.

3b.  Using Assessment Data to Improve Student Learning

Strand: Innovative assessment

Audience: Instructors

You use authentic assessment tools to determine whether your learners have mastered the content. Now what? In this session we will look at closing the loop - taking a look at the data provided by your assessment tools to improve your courses for better student learning. The learners will examine data provided by assessment tools to improve student learning.

This preview shows you the Beta interface and features, such as organizational data and user management, and new outcomes assessment planning tools. Leave with concrete steps for a smooth launch. Presentations are organized by your role within the organization and will include specific information for IT staff, or those supporting curriculum efforts from an IT perspective.

Tips for Traveling

Accommodations: There are a limited amount of rooms available at the Madison Concourse Hotel. The address and telephone number are 1 West Dayton Street , Madison , WI , (608) 257-6000. If you need to speak with a WIDS representative regarding the hotel, please contact Lisa Laabs, at (920) 748-9437. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout time is 11:00 a.m. Click here to view a list of other hotel options.

Travel: Participants who are flying to the workshop and staying at the Madison Concourse Hotel may use the complimentary shuttle service from the Madison airport by contacting them upon arrival; otherwise rental cars are available at the airport if you feel you’ll need one.

Parking: Parking is $7 per day for overnight guests. An additional public parking ramp is available across the street from the hotel.

Meals: Lunches, beverages (including coffee), and snacks are included in your registration fee. Participants often get together for dinner. Downtown Madison has a nice selection of restaurants, and all are within walking distance. The hotel restaurant serves excellent food for purchase, including a full breakfast.

Dress: Please dress casually and comfortably. Our workshops are conducted in a “roll-up-your-sleeves” environment. You needn’t worry about dressing up after hours either. Most restaurants allow casual dress, and provide a casual and fun atmosphere.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for All Workshops:  Cancellation requests received at least five days prior to the start date will be fully refunded, or the paid registration fee may be applied to a later session. No refunds will be granted after that time.
